Since its nearing the holiday season, I think it’s more important than ever to support small and independent business’s. Supporting neighborhood, and smaller scale companies can truly help a community thrive! Plus you’re helping the environment through reducing your carbon footprint.
The great thing about living in London, there are so many sustainable shops to choose from! I’ve demnach found Instagram to be an incredible platform for discovering niche business’s to purchase everything from plants to art.
Over the years I have certainly become partial to a handful of brands that I think are worth mentioning. Some of my favourite small business’s include: Alexandria Coe Wesen, The Sustainable Department Store, and Earl of East.
Universum that being said, I would love to hear from you! What are some of your favourite independent and sustainable shops?
Alexandria Coe Wesen
Alexandria Coe is a London based artist, whose illustrations of the female body are raw and beautiful. While her drawings are abstract, they show emotion and seek to tell a story, which I love. I’m very excited for the release of her second book, ‘Lovers’, which is focus’s on the theme of relationships, and will include images and text that depict what that word means to her. Over on MIRROR WATER, Julie Tanner interviewed Alexandria about her upbringing, her art, and why she prefers the word ‘naked’ over ‘nude’. You can read that interview here.
